DIY Foaming Honey Facial Wash with Essential Oils

DIY Foaming Honey Facial Wash with Essential Oils | Food Your Body Will Thank You ForI buy raw honey locally and my honey dealer LOVES his Ragu spaghetti sauce :-) While we may differ greatly in our pasta sauce tastes, his honey is top notch! The downside of saving money due to his recycling effort, is the narrow mouth of the jars. It makes it very difficult to use every last bit. Since I HATE to waste food, I decided to brainstorm a way to use it. Recently I’ve delving into the realm of DIY skin products, and I know how wonderful honey is in a skin regiment, so a facial wash seemed like a natural solution to using the honey residue from the jars.

The result? SUCCESS! The first time I used it, I knew I had a winner on my hands. My skin feels SO good right now! I can’t wait for you to experience the same refreshing, soothing results.

Enjoy! <3

DIY Foaming Honey Facial Wash with Essential Oils

You’ll Need:

Normal/Combination Skin: 12 drops lavender, 6 drops ylang ylang
Dry skin: 6 drops each Geranium, Sandalwood, Patchouli (for dry skin use 1 T. vegetable glycerine and 1 T. organic sweet almond oil)
Oily Skin: 6 drops Petitgrain, 6 Bergamot (for oily skin I suggest jojoba oil instead of sweet almond)
Mature/Sensitive Skin: 8 drops Roman Chamomile 8 drops Neroli or Rose oil

  1. Heat water where it’s hot to the touch but doesn’t hurt (if it hurts, it’s too hot and will “cook” the honey, thus negating its ).
  2. Add water to honey jar, cover and swish until honey dissolves. Set aside
  3. In a mason jar, add essential oils, vegetable glycerine, almond oil, and castile soap. Stir well—I use THIS.
  4. Add honey water mixture. Stir again.
  5. Cover with soap dispenser.
  6. Use 1-2 times/day or as needed. I also enjoy this as a body wash.
