The Bomb Balm-Why I Love Vintage Tradition

I first learned about Vintage Tradition Tallow Balm at the Wise Traditions Conference in fall of 2012. A couple of months later, I discovered more about the company in an article written by one of the owners, Andrew Gardner

The company is committed to sustainability (grass-fed beef tallow), quality ingredients (both organic olive oil and essential oils), and genuinely desires helping people find relief from dry, chapped, and itchy skin. The company owners are so committed to this goal they even publish step-by-step instructions on how to make the very product they sell on their website!

My son suffered from eczema as a newborn and when he was about 6 weeks old, he developed this really nasty patch on his leg that became infected. Being a new mom, sleep-deprived, and lacking traditional wisdom, I resorted to steroid creams…a move I was not entirely comfortable with.

By the time I attended the Wise Traditions Conference in 2012, my family had drastically changed our diets and had become gluten-free. While the eczema has improved, during the winter months it still became an issue. When I received the Winter Wise Traditions journal featuring Vintage Tradition, I took the plunge and ordered some. I had no idea it would change my family’s life. This product has been an amazing addition to our medicine cabinet!

When I first applied the cream, I was struck by the creaminess of the emollient. I don’t suffer from eczema, but (as a cook, mom, and 1st grade teacher), my numerous hand-washings throughout the day leave my knuckles cracked and painful. The balm seemed to add an extra layer to the skin that was immediately soothing!

Now that I’ve figure out a way to soothe itchy, dry skin, I seem to come across people who need this product ALL the time! The past month alone, I gave gobs of my precious balm to one of my classroom parents who suffers skin rashes due to an auto-immune condition, a student whose leathery knuckles and painful and itchy cracked skin always made me cringe, a colleague who suddenly developed a red itchy patch on her face, her boyfriend who has suffered from eczema on his elbows for many years…I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea! And that was just December and January!

The most amazing results came from one of my 6-year-old students. Her parents were SO impressed with the results, they happily allowed me to share the pictures in the hope it helps other families.

Been wanting to try a tallow balm. My son has the worst winter skin on his face and hands, I’ve tried lots of other things and nothing works for long.
